I recently got one of these lovely beauts on ebay for a really good deal. The Canon AE-1 is an older SLR model that is completely manual. Learning how to use this camera is like taking a photography class! I still feel like there are a billion things to learn but I wanted to share some of these first photos I took.
Do you have any older all manual cameras? Any tricks and tips you'd like to share? What is your favorite camera? This one is slowly moving up the list:)

Aaah! Gorgeous shots! :) I found a Canon AE-1 recently on ebay too (yay!), but it must be from the early '80's, cuz it has the beginnings of auto settings on it, too. I'm still trying to wrap my head around aperture and shutter speed, but I'm taking a photo class in school right now that's helping me out - and I learned how to do double exposures on it!
If you want to: take your first photo, flip up the film winder tab (not the whole thing, just the little tab on top) and hold it, press the rewind button in, and pull the film forward like you normally would to go to the next frame. The film shouldn't move, the rewind button should pop out again, and you can now take your second picture. :) It's addicting!!

Awsome! I have been eyeing that camera for awhile. You are inspiring me to take the plunge and find one on Ebay. Have a wonderful weekend Rebecca!
P.s Love your photo of yourself on the left hand upper corner. So sweet!

I don't know if I'd be good enough to take photos with a camera w only manual settings, but I think it would also be kind of awesome to learn! Love the shots you took here!

Thanks Kayla, it is totally intimidating! But I have to say I have learned more about exposure in the last week (and actually feel like I understand it than I did in my years of college photography courses. Go for it! I got mine for about 60 bucks.

I have an old Nikon my father in law gave me, I've really only used it a few times and I loved a lot of the photos that I got developed from it, I still have a roll or two to drop off. I can shoot manual in digital just fine but on film it's tricky. Some of the photos I did take seemed a little grainy or too dark. Your pictures are so lovely and you are so great and inspiring!

I've been wanting to get an ae-1 for a while now, but I'm a little bit intimidated! Can't wait to see more of your pictures with it!
PS. Totally loving your hair like that!
