So I just turned 27 and I find it completely mind boggling that when I was a child the internet barely existed. I remember making my mom hang up the phone so I could get onto our dial up connection because I really needed to download a song on napster. Boy have the times changed, now the internet, and especially this blog and my shop are this enormous part of my life.
Anyway! Of course I waited till the last minute to think of a costume. D and I were just going to take my siblings trick or treating so I didn't want to go all out. I stopped at a thrift store on my way home from class today and picked up this amazing ensemble for about $9. The best part is that when I was done putting it all together I realized that I looked just like my mom's sister back in the early 90's!
That got me to thinking about what fashion bloggers would have looked like if there was such a thing at the time. So, I decided to treat this "costume" as an outfit post! I think it's pretty amazing that there are so many fashion bloggers out there documenting style on such a regular basis. Our kids are all going to have in depth accounts of all of our style choices that I am sure will be laughable at some point in the future.
What did you do for halloween?
Outfit: jeans-thrifted Levis, shoes-target, belt-forever21, glasses-thrifted, sweater-thrifted, awesome boomb box and cassette tape earrings-gifted from my friend Susan who got them in Japan.
besitos,

I just turned 29! Yey for us kids who grew up without the internet. Those were great days. You look so very on the dot of how people dressed in 1991. haha. So funny!!!!! Happy birthday by the way.
Halloween was cancelled in NJ because of the hurricane, but supposedly it is going on today. Maybe I should put together a last second outfit for it?? Hmm!

You are darling. This is so cute and I'm cracking up because it took me a minute to realize it wasn't a serious fashion post :) It was great meeting you last night! I had so much fun.

Oh my goodness they are really going to crack up at our style pictures indeed but it will be so fun and wonderful! I remember those days too, we got a computer at home when I was in middle school and I remember my dad being like “well kids, we’ve used up all the minutes for the month” and for the last few days there’d be no internet haha that having “internet minutes” was probably a good thing in many senses. Anyway, total 90s outfit but totally something a style blogger would wear now also, super cute : ) those big classes are so fun & that sweater & all the neon is great! Hope it was a blast taking the little sibs out!

this is adorable! wht a cute costume idea. and those earrings. brilliant! it's crazy really to think how different things were when we were young. we had the internet really really early, like as long as i can remember, because my dad works in computer technology. it's crazy though when i look at the specs for my original orange ibook and realize it had like 4GB of storage total.....i have files that big now!
