So a couple of years ago my grandmother gifted me her sewing machine. It is an old Sear Kenmore machine that my grandfather got for her, I think in the 80's? Anyway, when I got the machine I looked up countless youtube videos and so many sewing tutorials online, but I could never seem to get the tension right. I ultimately got very frustrated and put it away. We moved since then and it has just been collecting dust ever since.
Well luckily my friend Candice said she would take a look at it and give me some pointers. So last week after a couple video tutorials and a couple glasses of wine we got it working! I am so obsessed now and overwhelmed with so many designs and re-styles I want to do. Thrifted for dresses has become a completely different animal now! Oh man, I am loving it.
I realized pretty quickly, that just like my new obsession with film photography, sewing is an expensive hobby! Fabric is really expensive guys, especially the kind that I want. So I went in search of vintage sheets, curtains, and table cloths and actually had some descent luck.
I made this skirt from an old sheet! I used this tutorial and it was so simple and I was so happy with the result. Next mission is a dress, wish me luck!
P.S. The pretty cowl I am wearing is available and ready to ship in the shop:) Oh and take a peek at my adorable shoes, the lovely ladies of B.A.I.T sent them to me and I am in love with the minty color. Have you seen their new Fall line yet?

It is nice to see this skirt on you since I saw the sneak peak of it on your instagram!! It is quite lovely!! Yey!! Your story of sewing is like mine . . .I got frustrated easily with doing it and would just shove it back in my closet and use it from time to time, but now I plan on using it more often since I enjoyed making the dress I made a couple weeks ago. Yey! Hope you do more too!
