A couple of weeks ago I got this overwhelming desire to find a 35mm film camera. I looked on craigslist and found a listing for someone selling one for $50. When I emailed her she told me that she hadn't gotten any response so she donated it to the local goodwill. Right after work that day I headed to Goodwill and somehow it was sitting in a big pile of other abandoned electronics in a glass case. I got it for $20 and took it home and began playing.
I haven't used a film camera since college so I was a little rusty and I definitely checked the back of the camera more than once to see an image that was not actually there. Its all about surprise when shooting with film and I was pretty sure that all of the pictures would come out completely white or completely back. To my very happy surprise most of them came out! And, I completely and totally adore them. They have such a great silky and warm quality to them. This is something I sometimes spend a lot of time trying to achieve in photo shop with my digital photos.
Do you shoot with film? What has your experience been like?

we have many film cameras and whenever we go anywhere we always have a couple with us. we usually post about our cameras and photos that we developed on Mondays. It's called Lomography Monday :-) http://chestnutmocha.blogspot.com/search/label/lomography

Ha, I always check the back of my film camera! So funny. I don't shoot film much, but I love to. I am a little rusty so I don't get the best results, but am almost finished a few rolls so I'm looking forward to seeing them when they're developed.
Your photos are beautiful, such a great depth to the colours. Definitely shoot more film! x

Ooooh...I love these!! We're on the same wavelength, too: I got all obsessive with my Diana Mini on a trip to Europe this Spring and finally bought a used 35mm Canon last night - I'm patiently awaiting it's arrival. he he. :) I hope my first roll turns out as well...

Ooh your pictures are adorable.
I've just found a whole box of expired film when moving. It gives you the loveliest vintage, unexpected colour effects. I love working with film, not only for its quality but also for the fact that you never know 100% what you're going to get. I am always as excited as a little kid when I go to pick up my prints.

Absolutely LOVE! I need to work on film some more, I've done pretty good. I have like 4 or 5 rolls I still need to get developed, I think I have some real winner in there!

I've been using my mom's old 35mm for a few years now, and I love it. I prefer using black and white film with it because the pictures always come out sharper. I rarely use my digital camera. The only downside is how expensive it is to get film developed, or to even find film anywhere! But it's worth it!

These photos are beautiful! I love the pictures of the dogs. Great color and sharpness.
My next camera will definitely be film once I research a bit more. I may just hop right into Goodwill.

I bought a film camera at a garage sale for $5, I knew it was great when I realized it was a Canon Rebel. I was so excited. I went out and bought some black and white + color film, and was amazed with the results! I love not knowing exactly how the image is going to look. It's a great feeling seeing all the photos you took after you develop them. These are beautiful photos and make me want to whip out my film camera again!
